The Newport Institute is dedicated to giving young adults aged 18 to 28 struggling with mental health issues and co-occurring disorders the best treatment possible.Jamison Monroe, the founder of Newport Institute, founded it with the intention of helping young adults find fulfillment and happiness, as mental health issues are on the rise in this age group. The institute incorporates gender-specific living – with two residential homes for females in San Rafael and one for males in Sunol – to ensure that patients feel comfortable and understood.

Patients spend 30 hours a week receiving individual and group therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), nutrition education, body image group, and attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other activities, such as yoga, equine-assisted therapy, cooking classes, and martial arts, are also incorporated into the patient’s schedule. Patients are also given career counseling and spiritual guidance.

When ready, patients transition out of treatment with the help of Newport Institute’s life skills and academic programs. This includes vocational assistance to older patients to help them integrate back into society, and help for college-bound patients to stay on top of their studies and achieve their goals. Through comprehensive and compassionate care, the Newport Institute strives to heal patients in mind, body, and spirit.
