At Boardwalk Recovery Center in San Diego, California, adults struggling with substance use, mood, personality, or trauma-related issues can take advantage of the center’s 30-60 day outpatient program. This program uses a 3-phased approach that begins with five days of intensive clinical counseling (six hours per week) and tapers off to three to five days a week with three hours of counseling and group therapy. Boardwalk Recovery offers evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, solution-focused therapy, seeking safety for PTSD, mindfulness practices, breathwork, and meditation. In addition to therapy, Boardwalk Recovery prepares its clients for school and the workforce by teaching interviewing skills with an emphasis on life skills training. Morning and afternoon IOP sessions are available to participants, which offer a flexible alternative to those who are already enrolled in school, employed, or scheduled to work during the day. Boardwalk Recovery also encourages its clients to partake in 12-Step peer groups in the community.
