Canyons House, a part of Ascend Healthcare, is a residential treatment center for adolescent girls ages 12-17 struggling with anxiety, trauma, depression, ADHD, and other mental health issues. This program emphasizes holistic healing through a variety of therapies such as eye movement therapy (EMDR), 12-Steps for co-occurring substance addiction, animal-assisted therapy, drama therapy, music therapy, horticulture, medication, yoga, and more. Animal-assisted therapy is particularly beneficial, where girls are given companion animals to care for in order to learn self-care and responsibility. Located near the San Gabriel Mountains in Northwestern Los Angeles, the residential facility is made up of only 6 individuals at any given time in order to foster deep relationships and peer support.
