Newport Academy is a comprehensive residential healing center for teens ages 12-17 who are struggling with mental health issues, eating disorders, trauma, and substance abuse. Their evidence-based and holistic therapies are broken into four categories: clinical, experiential, spiritual, and academic. Among these therapies are body image group, gender-specific therapy, 12-Step, Bowen’s family system theory, equine therapy, music and art therapy, horticulture, culinary arts, and yoga. Not only does Newport Academy strive to empower teens and restore families, but they offer gender-specific care and include family in the healing process. They also offer adventure therapies, such as hiking, rock climbing, and kayaking. Conveniently located in Connecticut and close to NYC and Connecticut airports, Newport Academy’s campus boasts 120 acres of streams, foliage, and walking trails. Teens have their own bedrooms and share one private bathroom with a roommate. There are also common areas, on-site gardens, art therapy space, music rooms, 2 gyms, and outdoor space for yoga and meditation. To keep teens on track with their school work, Newport Academy provides tutoring and individualized schooling programs. They are accredited by The Joint Commission and are covered by most private insurance providers.
