Intermountain Hospital’s Boise, Idaho location provides a comprehensive mental health and substance use disorder treatment facility, with a full continuum of care and age-specific programs for its clients. These programs include a residential program, an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for adolescents (ages 12-17), adults, and older adults. Intermountain takes an individualized and holistic approach to treatment, utilizing various therapies such as group therapy, family therapy, relapse prevention counseling, and recreation therapy. Moreover, their older adults program provides specialized support for the unique challenges faced by adults later in life, including mental health and substance use disorders, as well as chronic pain. Intermountain’s goals for the chronic pain program involve reducing narcotic use, regulating pain through alternative methods, developing healthy coping skills, and decreasing pain to improve quality of life. To this end, family involvement is a critical element of the program and regular family meetings are held.
