The IAFF Center of Excellence is a behavioral health treatment and recovery center that specializes in treatment for professional fire service members struggling with PTSD, substance use disorder, and addiction. Using an evidence-based, multidisciplinary approach, the center combines the expertise of doctors, nurses, and clinicians from different disciplines to treat the individual holistically. Treatments include individual and group therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, life skills, nutrition classes, 12-step facilitation, exposure therapy, pharmaceutical therapy, and experiential therapy. IAFF Center of Excellence also offers a range of services including a clinically managed detox, inpatient residential, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), teletherapy, and aftercare planning. An in-depth aftercare program includes connections to relapse prevention strategies, 12-step support, alumni mentoring program, return to work planning and support, diagnostic check-ins, and local behavioral and physical health care providers. Accredited by the Joint Commission, IAFF Center of Excellence is situated on fifteen acres and spread out among seven buildings. Clients stay in four station houses, each outfitted with comfortable furnishings and a firehouse theme. Residents have access to walking trails, yoga classes, animal assisted intervention, outdoor volleyball, basketball court, outdoor pool, and a fully-equipped fitness center. A nutrition coach is available, and meals and snacks are provided.
